About the artist: Googoosh (Tehran, May 5, 1950) is an Iranian actress and singer. Googoosh is of ethnic Azeri, and comes from a secular family, and from a very young began to make music. He has recorded some 200 songs, almost all in Persian, and some in other languages, such as Turkish, Armenian, Arabic, French, and even in Spanish (La malagueña and others). He also participated in many Persian films and was the greatest celebrity of Iran in the seventies, although his artistic career was interrupted by the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and the subsequent ban on the singing of female soloists. Googoosh still maintained his residence in Tehran until emigrating in the mid-2000s to Canada, where he resumed musical activity.1
